Resolution to Modify the Starwick Traffic Calming Installation

Whereas, The City Council approved a traffic calming plan for Starwick Drive on April 16, 2007;
Whereas, All of the planned construction for the traffic calming plan has been installed, with the exception of neck downs planned for the intersection of Starwick and Barton Drive;
Whereas, The installation of the neck downs will negatively impact two of the households at the intersection, making it more difficult for vehicles to enter and leave their driveways;
Whereas, City Council on July 17, 2007 delayed construction of the neck downs pending an evaluation of the effectiveness of the completed portion of the installation; and
Whereas, As a result of discussion and evaluations of the installation by residents and staff, a modification of the neck down design has been proposed and found acceptable at meetings between the Starwick residents and City staff;
Resolved, That the neck down installation will be modified essentially as indicated on the accompanying plan, with modified dimensions of the neck down at 895 Barton Drive and replacement of the neck down at 899 Barton with a painted area to channel traffic.
