Resolution to Approve the Closing of Maynard Street for the Ann Arbor Music Festival on Saturday, April 16, 2016
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the State Street District to close Maynard Street between Liberty and William on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 6:00 AM until midnight for the Ann Arbor Music Festival. The actual event will take place from 10:00AM until 10:00 PM, with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event. The parking structure will remain open and accessible via Thompson Street.
The State Street District is excited to bring a music festival to downtown Ann Arbor. The festival will feature local youth and headliners. The day will begin with local youth bands sharing their music and talent with the community. As the day moves on, more established bands will perform with a headliner starting around 7:00 PM. The District will have outdoor dining as well as several tents for beer sales and seating for those enjoying the music.
The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas, pursuant to the MLCC regulations.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and the sponsor's website and social media. Neighboring businesses have been informed of this event.
