Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of One Rear Loading Refuse Truck and One Side Loading Refuse Truck from Fredrickson Supply, LLC. (CoPro+ Contract) ($454,590.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one 2017 Mack LR truck chassis with a Loadmaster model Excel 25 yard rear loading packer body at $213,590.00 and one 2016 Lodal model EVO side loading refuse truck at $241,000.00 for a total cost of $454,590.00 through the Michigan Association of Counties' CoPro+ cooperative purchasing program (contract # 2014-WR-060-FS).

The rear loading refuse truck is used for downtown commercial refuse collection and will replace a 2006 unit that has been in service for 9 years with 16,050 hours of operation. Over its service life it has averaged over two breakdowns per month and the total repair cost has exceeded 145% of the original purchase price.

The side loading truck is used for downtown commercial recycling collection and will replace a 2007 unit that has been in service for over 9 years with 14,550 hours of operation. Over its service life it has averaged two and a half breakdowns per month and the total repair cost has exceeded 150% of the original purchase price.

Both of these trucks are the only units of their type in the fleet. As they age, the amount of downtime and increasing number of breakdowns impacts our ability to service these two important downtown routes.

The Fredrickson Supply, LLC of Grand Rapids, MI was awarded Contract Number 2014-WR-060-FS by the Michigan Associations of Counties' CoPro+ cooperative purchasing program for Refuse Trucks.

The Fleet & Facility Unit has adequate funds budgeted in their FY 2016 operations and maintenance budget for these purchases.

Fredrickson Supply, LLC complies with the requirements of the City's non-discrimination ordinance.
