Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Commercial Water Meters from SW Controls, Inc. $75,000.00 Annually, $225,000.00 for a Period of Three Years (FY 2016 to FY 2018).; Bid No. ITB-4408
Memorandum
Attached for your review and consideration is a resolution authorizing up to $75,000.00 per fiscal year for the purchase of commercial water meters from SW Controls, Inc. for a period of three years (FY 2016 to FY 2018).

The purchase was advertised on the City's website and on the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (ITB-4408). SW Controls, Inc. was the only bidder to submit pricing for the specified base bid meter. Two alternate bids were received from Badger Meter and ETNA Supply Co. The alternate bids included meters that are not currently installed in the City's distribution system. In order to maintain water meter consistency, it is recommended that the bid be awarded to SW Controls, Inc. in the amount of $75,000.00 per fiscal year.

The purchase of commercial water meters will be used in new meter installations and for replacing existing inoperable units. The City must keep an adequate parts inventory to accommodate new requests and install replacement units in a timely manner so that water use data collection is not interrupted.

Budget Impact:
Funding is available in the approved FY 2016 Water Supply System and Sewage Disposal System operating budgets and will be available in subsequent budgets if approved by Council.

SW Controls, Inc. complies with the City's Non-Discrimination ordinance.
