Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Three Mid-Size Sport Utility Vehicles from Berger Chevrolet (Oakland County $63,129.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of three 2016 Chevrolet Equinox SUV at $21,043.00 for a total of $63,129.00 from Berger Chevrolet, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Two of these vehicles will be new additions to the Fire Department fleet of administrative vehicles. The two vehicles will be assigned to the current Fire Department Assistant Fire Chiefs in lieu of vehicle stipends. These vehicles will allow the Assistant Fire Chiefs means to respond to emergency scenes when necessary. These vehicles are also necessary to travel to and from business meetings and work related events.

The third vehicle will be used by the Field Operations Unit which is responsible for solid waste collection service and the routine maintenance of the majority of the City's above and below ground infrastructure. The vehicle is needed for the transportation of administrative staff including the Manager, Assistant Managers and Engineer to investigate and respond to issues that arise in the field.

This purchase follows the guidelines of the City's Green Fleet Policy to reduce the amount of fuel used and to pay a premium for "greener" vehicles if necessary.

The Fleet and Facilities Unit reviewed the bids of the Cooperative Purchasing Programs of the State of Michigan, Oakland County, and Macomb County. Berger Chevrolet was the lowest responsive bidder to Oakland County.

Adequate funds for two vehicles have been budgeted in the General Fund's Fire Department budget for FY 2016. The third vehicle's purchase will come from the FY 2016 budgeted funds in the Motor Equipment Fund and the Field Operation's Water Fund.

Berger Chevrolet complies with the requirements of the City's non-discrimination ordinances.
