Resolution to Approve Professional Services Agreement with Tad McKillop to Cast Outdoor Bronze Artwork for the Coleman Jewett Memorial ($43,500.00) and to Accept and Appropriate Donated Funds of up to $51,000.00 (8 Votes Required)

Memorandum

The Ann Arbor Public Art Commission requests approval of a professional services agreement with sculptor/foundry owner, Tad McKillop, in the amount of $43,500.00, to design, mold, bronze cast, finish and install a pair of Adirondack chairs to be permanently installed at Farmer’s Market in dedication to Mr. Coleman Jewett. The Ann Arbor Public Art Commission received two proposals for evaluation under RFP 905. An evaluation was performed based on past work, similar work performed, and the work plan/method proposed; the Commission chose sculptor/foundry owner, Tad McKillop to cast the outdoor bronze artwork.

Currently, funding for the artwork is anticipated to consist of:

$5,000.00 of Public Art Funds set aside specifically for this project per #R-14-068;

Up to $15,000.00 that the Downtown Development Authority has agreed to reimbursed the City for site preparation;

$36,000.00 to be donated to the City by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, consisting of privately raised individual and community gifts and donations; and

$4,000.00 to be paid to the artist by the Kerrytown District Association as part of the artist's contract.

Total project costs are estimated to be $58,500.00 with a $1500.00 contingency, and include costs for site preparation and the artist fee for design, fabrication, and installation.
