Resolution to Approve Street Closure of North University Street between Thayer and Fletcher Streets for UMix Outdoors on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Sunday, September 6, 2015

The attached resolution is requesting approval to close North University Street between Thayer and Fletcher Streets for the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement's UMix Outdoors on Saturday, September 5, 2015. The event will start at 8:00 PM and end at 12:00 AM with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event.
The sponsor, the University of Michigan Center for Campus Involvement, is presenting UMix Outdoors, a large, outdoor program on central campus as a part of the Welcome to Michigan schedule. An extension of the UMix Late Night program, UMix Outdoors will provide an alternative late-night programming opportunity for incoming students during a high risk time (Saturday night). Program elements will include large outdoor novelties on the Diag (rock wall, euro bungy, inflatable obstacle course), lawn games, live music, a movie screening and food options. To allow for greater opportunity for the program, and safer conditions for students, a closure of North University between Thayer and Fletcher is requested.
While the event is targeted for current UM students with a valid ID to enter marked access points, the event site and common spaces will be accessible to normal, public pedestrian and emergency traffic. Anyone in the space will be able to listen to the DJ or view the outdoor movie because it is a public venue.
Notification of the street closure will be through the City's website and GovDelivery, press releases and resources through the University of Michigan at least one week prior to the event.
