Resolution Approving Purchase Order and Best Source with Hewlett Packard (HP) for Fire Apparatus Mobile Computers for FY2016 (NTE $60,000.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks approval of a purchase order to Hewlett Packard (HP) as best source in an amount not to exceed $60,000.00 for the replacement of the Fire Apparatus Mobile Computers and their installation for the Ann Arbor Fire Department for FY2016.
MiDEAL is an extended purchasing program which allows Michigan local units of government to use state contracts to buy goods and services. The City of Ann Arbor is an active member of the MiDEAL program. HP administers the contract for the State of Michigan. The HP quote for this computer replacement project is under CONTRACT NO. 071B9200192 expiring April 9, 2016.
Rugged mobile data computer technology solutions are used by local police and fire agencies. The use of this highly specialized and integrated mobile data solution allows many public safety organizations across Washtenaw County, to maintain a common computing platform, share dispatch and scene information across agency and government boundaries, improving public safety responsiveness and the overall safety of the Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County communities. As such, the Panasonic Ruggedized Computer Tablets have been determined by the Fire Department to be the best source for obtaining compatible equipment for fire emergency response.
The funding for replacement of the Fire Mobile Computers was budgeted and approved in the FY2015 Information Technology Services Unit budget, and is planned for in the FY2016 IT Fund Budget as part of annual computer replacement program. The budget includes the purchase of 10 Ruggedized Computer Tablets, associated mounting hardware and installation costs.
We recommend that the attached resolution for the amount of $60,000.00.00 for FY2016 be approved.
