Resolution to Approve Closing Maynard Street for the Cinetopia International Film Festival Opening Night on Thursday, June 11, 2015
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of Maynard Street from Liberty to the entrance of the Parking Structure to stage the opening night of the Cinetopia International Film Festival. The closure will take place from 4:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2015. The event itself will take place from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM. The additional time is requested for set-up prior to and cleanup following the event. The Parking Structure will remain accessible from both Maynard and Thompson Streets for the duration of the event.
In celebration of the Ann Arbor opening night of its 4th annual Cinetopia International Film Festival, the applicant, the Michigan Theater will present a free outdoor film screening (appropriate for all ages) on Maynard Street, across the street from the Michigan Theater. The public will be entertained by music starting at 7:00 PM, followed by the film at sundown (approximately 9:30 PM).
The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, and applicant contact with impacted businesses.

Whereas, The City has received a request from the Michigan Theater to close Maynard Street from Liberty to the entrance of the Parking Structure on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2015 to stage the Cinetopia International Film Festival Opening Night;
Whereas, The closure will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised by the applicant;
Whereas, The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, and applicant contact with impacted businesses;
RESOLVED, That Council approve the closing of Maynard Street from Liberty to the entrance of the Parking Structure on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2015 to stage the Cinetopia International Film Festival Opening Night.
