Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to award a contract to E. T. MacKenzie Company in the amount of $672,500.00 for the Lawrence Street Water Main Replacement and Summit Street Water Main Replacement Project.
Budget/Fiscal Impact
The current City of Ann Arbor Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) includes projects UT-WS-14-11 and UT-WS-16-07, the Lawrence Street Water Main Upsizing and Summit Street (Wheeler Park) Transmission Water Main Replacement projects. The total cost of the project is estimated at $ 900,000.00. This project is being funded by the approved Water Fund Capital budget ($779,740.00), Street Resurfacing Millage Capital budget ($ 31,000.00), Storm Water Capital Budget ($ 32,000.00) and Park Maintenance and Capital Improvement Millage ($ 57,260.00).
The existing water main along Lawrence Street has experienced frequent breaks, is undersized, and is in poor condition. The existing transmission water main along Summit Street through Wheeler Park is also in poor condition and needs to be replaced. This project will replace the existing water main along Lawrence Street between Division Street and State Street with 750 feet of new 12-inch water main and replace the existing water main along Summit Street through Wheeler Park between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue with 470 feet of new 16-inch water main. Also included in this project, is the replacement of some curb and gutter, and reconstruction of some storm sewer structures, replacement of portions of the track and basketball court within Wheeler Park, and all related work. The final resurfacing of Lawrence Street will be performed under a separate contract by the 2015 Street Resurfacing Project.
