Resolution to Approve Additional Street Closing for the Ann Arbor Goddess 5K - Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

Attached for your consideration is a request from Epic Races, sponsor of the Ann Arbor Goddess 5K, to close Maynard Street between William and Liberty Streets on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. On February 17, 2015, City Council approved the following street closures for this event:
* Main Street between Keech and Liberty
* Liberty between Main and State
* Hill between Main and Division
* Division between Hill and Hoover
* Hoover between Division and Greene
* Greene between Hoover and Keech
* Keech between Greene and Main
The application was previously approved as a Mother's Day street closure to encourage families to come downtown to have brunch in Ann Arbor. Epic Races has partnered with local restaurants to honor mothers and non-mothers that morning.
The sponsor is requesting this additional closure of Maynard Street between William and Liberty Streets to move the finish line and other activities onto Maynard. The majority of the streets will be open by 9:00 a.m. By closing Maynard, the race participants will be able to congregate, receive their awards and celebrate on Maynard, thus allowing Liberty to open even sooner for public access. The Maynard parking structure will be accessible from Thompson Street throughout the event.
Notification of the additional street closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and sponsor contact with impacted businesses on Maynard.
