Attached for your review and consideration for approval please find a resolution to authorize award of a contract to Terrafirma Landscape in the amount of $49,100.00 for the Olson Park Irrigation System Improvements Project. The estimated project budget, including the construction costs will be funded by the Park Maintenance and Capital Improvement Millage fund balance.
Budget/Fiscal Impact
Funding for this project is available in the Park Maintenance and Capital Improvement Millage fund balance. Use of the reserve will not impact operations; however, it may reduce available funding for future capital needs.
This project includes the installation of a non-potable irrigation well to feed the existing soccer field irrigation system. The existing irrigation system pumps water from the pond at Olson Park and is in disrepair. The soccer field playing surfaces are unable to be maintained properly due to the lack of a reliable irrigation system.
The project was advertised for bid (ITB-4359) on City's website and on the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (MITN), with the plans and specifications being available to interested contractors. One bid was received and opened on February 8, 2015. The responsible bid from Terrafirma Landscape in the amount of $49,100.00 is approximately 18% below the Engineer's Estimated Opinion of Costs.
Terrafirma Landscape complies with the requirements of the nondiscrimination and living wage ordinances.
The project is expected to begin in early May and be completed by late June of 2015.
