Resolution to Appropriate 100% of the Funds Received from the State of Michigan for Public Act 252 of 2014 for Road Maintenance (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution seeking authorization to appropriate 100% of the funds received from the State of Michigan for Public Act 252 of 2014, which is a one-time allocation of General Funds from the State for road maintenance.

Due to the passing of Public Act 252, the State of Michigan's 2015 budget included an additional $144,500,000.00 of General Fund monies to be distributed to Act 51 eligible road agencies based on the Public Act 51 distribution formula. The monies are to be distributed in four equal quarterly allotments, beginning in November 2014. The City of Ann Arbor is estimated to receive an additional $671,803.60 in road maintenance funding.

Public Services is taking an opportunity offered by the additional funding to focus on some deferred maintenance related items. Those items include crack sealing of roadways and the replacement of aged and malfunctioning traffic signal detection at some of our major intersections. The additional funding allows the replacement of the oldest snow plow in our fleet. These items and additional expenditures will make noticeable improvements for the motoring public.
