Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval, please find a resolution to approve an agreement between the City of Ann Arbor and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the construction of sidewalks along a portion of Nixon Road, and installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) on Green Road (collectively known as the "Clague Safe Routes to School Project").

Budget/Fiscal Impact
This project has been approved for a Safe Routes to School grant which funds 100% of eligible construction costs. Estimated Project Costs are as follows:

Funding

Safe Routes to School Grant $172,067.00
Local Share - Alternative Transportation Fund and Special Assessments $49,000.00
TOTAL $221,067.00

The completed plans were submitted to MDOT in July 2014 for a bid letting on October 3, 2014. This resolution was prepared prior to the October 3rd bid letting; therefore the bid results were not available for inclusion in this memorandum. Construction is scheduled to proceed in 2015.

Clague Sidewalk

The total length of the sidewalk is approximately 1,450 feet, or just over a quarter mile. The work also includes installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps at intersections.

Green Road RRFB
A pedestrian activated RRFB will be installed for persons crossing Green Road, approximately 450 feet west of Kilburn Park Circle.
