Title
Resolution Authorizing a Contract with Premier Truck Sales & Rental, Inc. for the Rental of Eight Rear-Load Refuse Trucks ($117,200.00)
Memorandum
Please find attached for your consideration a resolution that authorizes a contract with Premier Truck Sales & Rental, Inc. for the rental of eight rear-load refuse trucks for use in the City's yard waste collection.

In the fall, the amount of leafs exceeds the capacity of City's fleet of three side-load compost trucks. Rental trucks are used to meet the peak demand. The rear-load rental trucks have larger capacity than the side-load trucks, resulting in greater efficiency in collection of leafs.

The Fleet and Facilities Unit of the Public Services Area solicited bids for the truck rentals. Four requests were sent out and two vendors were able to supply all eight trucks during the specified time period.

BIDDER COST #TRUCKS TOTAL

Premier Truck Sales & Rental, Inc. $11,880.00 per Truck 8 $95,040.00
Bell Equipment Company $12,000.00 per Truck 8 $96,000.00
Rantoul Truck Center, LLC No Bid / No Trucks Available
Big Truck Rental, LLC No Bid / No Trucks Available

Funds were budgeted and are available in the FY 2015 operations & maintenance budget of the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.

Included in this resolution is a contingency of $22,160.00 for two additional weeks of rental based on a weekly rental rate of $1,385.00 per truck. The base bid covers a period of eight weeks.

Premier Truck Sales & Rental, Inc. received Human Rights approval on August 22, 2014.
