Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to approve an amendment in the amount of $16,571.00 to the existing Professional Services Agreement with CDM Smith Michigan, Inc., for as-needed construction engineering services for the Springwater Subdivision Improvements Project, for a total Professional Services Agreement amount of $239,995.00.

Budget/Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this amendment is available in the existing project budget contingency.

The City of Ann Arbor is planning undertaking the complete reconstruction of multiple streets in three phases beginning in 2014 within the Springwater Subdivision. The Phase I portion of this project currently underway includes a new roadway section, storm sewer upgrades, storm water quality improvements, water main replacement, replacement of curb and gutter, and the construction of new sidewalk and/or the filling in of sidewalk gaps within the project limits.

Under their existing contract, CDM prepared a stormwater plan and impact analysis for the entire Springwater Subdivision; and prepared an engineering design and construction plans for the Phase I portion of the project. This proposed amendment would include the following additional work items to be used on an as-needed basis during the construction of the project:

* Assist at project progress meetings as necessary to allow for immediate response to issues that arise during construction.
* Review of material submittals and requests for information by the contractor in regards to the design.
* Develop field design changes as necessary if changing conditions are encountered in the field during construction.

CDM Smith Michigan, Inc. received Human Rights approval on May 12, 2014, and complies with the living wage ordinance.
