Resolution Recognizing the Skyline Friends of the Arts as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Skyline Friends of the Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is organized for the general purpose of receiving and administering funds for the following:

1. The preservation and perpetuation of objects of historical interest or natural interest,
2. Higher educational needs,
3. Charitable giving to individuals or other nonprofit organizations, and
4. Support of public welfare programs.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Skyline Friends of the Arts to hold a 50/50 raffle at the Music & A Meal event at Skyline High School, located at 2552 N. Maple, in Ann Arbor. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Skyline Friends of the Arts has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
