Resolution for Community Events Fund Disbursements from the FY 2014 Budget
Body
Whereas, The Ann Arbor City Council wishes to support activities that promote or bring the community together in its richness;
 
Whereas, The Ann Arbor Community Events Committee met and reviewed funding requests from community groups for FY2014;
 
Whereas, Council approved Resolution R-13-281 on September 3, 2013 for FY14 Community Events Fund Disbursements;
 
Whereas, Community Events funds are to be used to pay for City fees related to barricade placement, police services, electricity turn on/off fees, trash receptacles, permit fees, and or City facility rental;
 
Whereas, Since Resolution R-13-281 was approved, two FY14 community events funding changes are necessary;
 
Whereas, The Committee recommends the following changes:
 
1)      The Center of Light Ann Arbor was awarded $1,000 to cover costs for the 4th Annual Ann Arbor Inner Peace Festival in June, 2014.  That event was cancelled and funds remain in the FY14 community event fund;
 
2)      Community Works Plus, on behalf of the African-American Downtown Festival, recently submitted an application for FY14 funding for the event scheduled on June 7, 2014;
 
3)      The committee wishes to allocate the remaining balance of the FY14 Community Events Fund in the amount of $1,972.00 to the African-American Downtown Festival scheduled on June 7, 2014 in support of this event.
 
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor City Council approve the allocation in the amount of $1,972.00 from the FY 2014 Community Events Fund to the African-American Downtown Festival scheduled on June 7, 2014 in support of this event.
