Resolution to Accept a Fair Food Network Grant for the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market for $32,000.00 and Appropriate Funds (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve an agreement with the Fair Food Network to administer the Double Up Food Bucks program at the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market and to accept and appropriate a total of $32,000.00 in funding.

Double Up Food Bucks is a statewide project providing incentives to encourage healthier food choices for food stamp (SNAP) recipients, directly benefitting low-income families and local farmers in Michigan and working to impact future food and nutrition policy. The Double Up Food Bucks program provides a match of up to $20/person/day for those customers using SNAP (Bridge Cards/EBT/Food Stamps) to purchase Michigan grown fruits and vegetables at farmer's markets across Michigan.

Since 2010, the City of Ann Arbor has received grant funding from the Fair Food Network to administer the Double Up Food Bucks program at the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market.  This grant provides a total of $32,000.00 to the City of Ann Arbor to administer the Double Food Bucks program.

The Double Up Food Bucks program runs from June 1 through October 31, 2014. The City is able to request additional funds from Fair Food Network later in the season if they are needed.

PAC unanimously recommended approval of this grant at their April 15, 2014 meeting.
