Resolution to Accept a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Corporation ($25,736.00)
...Memorandum
This resolution authorizes acceptance of a grant award in the amount of $25,736.00 from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Corporation. This grant program is a competitive review program and the City has received an award notification of 100% funding for a grant to purchase eleven (11) automatic external defibrillator units for use by the Fire Department.

The fire department submitted a request to the foundation to replace current AED equipment. This equipment will be deployed for everyday use, allowing firefighters to quickly and confidently provide emergency cardiac medical services in protecting the lives of the public they serve. All Ann Arbor citizens, employees and any visitors of the city will benefit from the front-line fire department apparatus having properly functioning and up-to- date AED equipment.

There are no matching funds required by the grant terms. There is currently no allocation in the Fire Department’s budget to purchase this needed medical equipment.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Corporation was established by firemen in 2005 with the goal to provide funding, life-saving equipment, disaster assistance and educational opportunities for first responders and public safety organizations. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Corporation is a nationally known 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that has donated millions of dollars to hundreds of public safety organizations.

Approval of this resolution will accept the grant and provide for the budgeting and management of the grant without regard to fiscal year.
