Resolution to Close Street for Beats, Eats, and Cleats in the Streets on Friday, September 6, 2013
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request to close S. University Avenue in front of the Landmark Apartments at South University and South Forest. The sponsor, Landmark, has requested that the area be closed from Noon on Friday, September 6, 2013 to 11:00 P.M. The event itself takes place from 4:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. The additional time is requested to stage the event and clean-up following the event. The sponsor has assured the City that access to all home and businesses, as well as the parking garage will be available. Traffic on South Forest will not be obstructed either.
This event is a welcome to new and returning students and will have a pep rally, live music, food trucks, inflatable boxing, and other entertainment. Alcohol will not be served.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets.
Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website. Additionally, the sponsor has contacted all impacted businesses to inform them of the upcoming event.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
