Resolution to Appoint R4C Committee
Body
Whereas, The resolution of October 15, 2007 directing the City Planning Commission to review rezoning in the Lower Burns Park neighborhood revealed (through the staff report, public hearing, written public comments and Planning Commission discussion) the need to review the R2A and R4C zoning districts more comprehensively within the Central Area rather than one isolated neighborhood at a time;

Whereas, On March 2, 2009, Council passed a resolution directing the City Planning Commission and Planning staff to work with the public to provide the City Council with a report and recommendations for potential ordinance changes to the residential districts within the Central Area;

Whereas, On July 6, 2009, Council passed a resolution determining the make-up of the R4C and R2A Public Committee;

Whereas, On August 6 and September 9, 2009 Council passed a resolution naming the committee members to the R4C and R2A;

Whereas, The Planning Commission has recommended to City Council support for the changes in the R4C/R2A Recommendations Report and recommends City Council authorize Planning Commission and staff to draft ordinance amendments consistent with the report recommendations;

Whereas, The R4C/R2A Report and Planning Commission recommendation was transmitted to City Council in the May 20, 2013 Clerk’s Report of Communications, Petitions and Referrals; and

Whereas, The members of the committee have requested the opportunity for continued participation in the R4C and R2A recommendations to City Council;

RESOLVED, The following members are appointed to advise the Planning Commission on draft ordinance amendments to be presented to City Council:

Planning Commission Representative (1): Sabra Briere
Rental Property Owner Representative (1): Chuck Carver
Representative from each Ward (2 from each ward):
1st Ward: Ilene Tyler and Ray Detter
2nd Ward: Wendy Carman and Carl Luckenbach
