Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2013 from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. The following streets will be closed from 6:00 to 10:30 A.M.:
• Start at Fourth Ave & Liberty
• Head West on Liberty to Main
• Left on Main to William
• Left on William to State
• Left on State to Liberty
• Left on Liberty (past start/finish line) to Main
• Left on Main to William
• Left on William to State
• Right on State to Monroe
• Left on Monroe to Tappan
• Left on Tappan to South University
• Right on South University to Church
• Turn around at Church on South University
• West on South University to East University
• Right onto Diag and run through the Engineering Arch across the Diag to State and N. University
• Right on State to Liberty
• Left on Liberty to Finish Line
The sponsor, Champions for Charity, agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The City has received a request to approve the closing of certain streets for the Firecracker 5K on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.;
Whereas, the Sponsor, Champions for Charity, is requesting the City provide the following services:
1) Closing the following streets from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
• Start at Fourth Ave & Liberty
• Head West on Liberty to Main
• Left on Main to William
• Left on William to State
• Left on State to Liberty
• Left on Liberty (past start/finish line) to Main
• Left on Main to William
• Left on William to State
• Right on State to Monroe
• Left on Monroe to Tappan
• Left on Tappan to South University
• Right on South University to Church
• Turn around at Church on South University
• West on South University to East University
• Right onto Diag and run through the Engineering Arch across the Diag to State and N. University
• Right on State to Liberty
• Left on Liberty to Finish Line.
2) Provide directional cones and barricades;
3) Clean the streets prior to the race;
Whereas, The street closures will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the following street closings from 6:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 4, 2013:
