Resolution to Approve a Lease with Huron River Holdings, Inc. for Use of a Parking Lot at 416 Longshore Drive ($3,000.00)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve a $3,000.00 lease with Huron River Holdings, Inc. for use of the parking lot at 416 Longshore Drive on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays for overflow parking for Argo Canoe Livery. The term of this lease will be from May 25, 2013 - September 2, 2013 with an option to renew administratively for 2 successive 1-year periods.

Argo Canoe Livery is a very popular and heavily used park in Ann Arbor that continues to face operational challenges in meeting parking demand throughout the livery season. This lease was initially approved for the 2012 season and use of this lot proved beneficial in helping meet parking demand. The highest demand for parking at the canoe livery is on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The parking lot at 416 Longshore Drive provides approximately an additional 40 parking spaces. It is anticipated that use of the Argo Canoe Livery will continue to increase for the 2013 season therefore staff are again proposing to lease this lot to help with parking demand. It is expected that increased revenue from users fees will continue to help offset the cost of leasing the parking lot for the livery season.

Funding is available in the approved FY2013 Parks & Recreation Services General Fund operating budget and will be contained annually in the Parks & Recreation Services General Fund for future years of the agreement.
