Title
Resolution to Approve the Distribution of the Draft Master Plan Amendment: South State Street Corridor Plan (CPC Recommendation: Approval - 7 Ayes and 0 Nays)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution authorizing the distribution of the draft Master Plan Amendment: South State Street Corridor Plan to adjoining jurisdictions and the general public. This is the first step in the process of reviewing the plan for inclusion in the City of Ann Arbor Master Plan: Land Use Element.
Project Summary:
· The draft corridor plan makes land use and transportation recommendations for the South State Street corridor between Stimson Street and Ellsworth Road.
· The development of the draft plan included extensive opportunities for public and stakeholder involvement over the past 10 months, including 58 individual interviews with stakeholders along the corridor, two public meetings, and review by the Planning Commission’s Master Plan Revisions Committee.
· The distribution of the draft plan is consistent with State law and City Code that requires the distribution of a draft master plan document prior to holding public hearings on a potential master plan amendment.
The City Planning Commission, at its meeting of January 3, 2013, recommended that City Council approve the distribution of the draft Master Plan Amendment: South State Street Corridor Plan. Once the mandated comment review period is completed, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and consider making revisions to the draft plan prior to considering it for adoption.
