PROCLAMATION
Honoring Carol Kuhnke
December 17, 2012
WHEREAS, The City of Ann Arbor depends on numerous qualified citizens to volunteer their time and talents to assist the City in numerous endeavors requiring service on various Boards, Committees, Commissions and other groups; and
WHEREAS, Ann Arbor attorney Carol Kuhnke was first appointed by Council upon the recommendation of Mayor Ingrid Sheldon to serve as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals effective January 1, 2000 and was twice reappointed by Council upon recommendation of Mayor John Hieftje to another three year term after which Carol Kuhnke was unanimously approved and appointed to serve as Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals in 2006; and
WHEREAS, service on the 9-member Board requires substantial knowledge of the zoning ordinances, building codes, architecture, construction and the City Charter and state statutes and regulations; and
WHEREAS, Carol Kuhnke has given generously of her time and talent in providing exemplary service to the City of Ann Arbor and its citizens for 13 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals, all without charge or expense to the City; and
WHEREAS, Carol Kuhnke demonstrated an encyclopedic knowledge of the Zoning ordinances, The City of Ann Arbor's Master plan, the Building Codes and the applicable provisions of the City's Charter and the State of Michigan's Statutes.
NOW THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby proclaim my congratulations to Carol Kuhnke for 13 years of service to the community. Be it resolved and proclaimed that Carol Kuhnke is appointed to the honorary office of Retired Emeritus Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals by a grateful mayor and council, this 17th day of December, 2012
