Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on March 10, 2013.
 
The event has been endorsed by Running Fit and Conor O'Neill's.  The event will run from 8:45 AM to 11 AM and will require closing of the following streets from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on March 10, 2013:
 
·      Start at intersection of Main and Liberty (runners will be lined up to Washington)
·      South on Main
·      West on William
·      North on Ashley
·      West on Washington
·      South on 1st
·      East on William
·      South on Ashley
·      East on Jefferson
·      South on Main
·      Turn around between Snyder and Stadium
·      North on Main
·      West on Washington
·      South on 1st
·      East on William
·      North on Ashley
·      Finish is on Ashley between William and Liberty (behind Conor O'Neills)
 
Refreshments will be served to race participants in front of Conor O'Neill's.
 
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
 
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website.
 
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.

Whereas, The Ann Arbor Track Club has requested the annual Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013;
 
Whereas, The Sponsor is requesting the City provide the following services:
 
1.      Closing of the following streets from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on March 10, 2013:
 
·      Start at intersection of Main and Liberty (runners will be lined up to Washington)
·      South on Main
·      West on William
·      North on Ashley
·      West on Washington
·      South on 1st
·      East on William
·      South on Ashley
·      East on Jefferson
·      South on Main
·      Turn around between Snyder and Stadium
·      North on Main
·      West on Washington
·      South on 1st
·      East on William
·      North on Ashley
·      Finish is on Ashley between William and Liberty (behind Conor O'Neills)
 
2.      Provide directional cones and barricades;
 
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses; and
 
Whereas, Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website;
 
RESOLVED, That City Council approve closing of the following street closings for the Shamrocks & Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM:

·      South on Main
·      West on William
·      North on Ashley
·      West on Washington
