Resolution to Approve Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Scio for the Liberty Road Sanitary Lift Station
Memorandum
Attached for your approval is an MOU agreement between the City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Scio. Both parties continue to be involved and impacted by the maintenance and operation of the Liberty Road Sanitary Sewer Lift Station in Scio Township, which was constructed by the Washtenaw Intermediate School District under an agreement, dated January 29, 1974.
The City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Scio desire to formalize an arrangement for the continued operation, maintenance and improvement of said lift station, and to define maintenance and cost sharing arrangement.
The costs associated with the routine operation and maintenance of the lift station shall be shared in accordance with the following percentages;
Scio Township at 90% and the City of Ann Arbor at 10%.
Costs that are capital in nature shall be shared in accordance with the following percentages:
Scio Township at 85% and the City of Ann Arbor at 15%
The City of Ann Arbor shall invoice the Township of Scio for their share of the costs of operating and maintaining the lift station and the Township's share of capital costs. Staff from the City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Scio will continue to meet to assess all maintenance and capital needs of the facility. The City of Ann Arbor will continue to maintain the facility.
The attached memorandum of understanding establishes the responsibilities between the City and the Township of Scio and outlines the obligations of ownership, and maintenance.

Whereas, The City and the Township of Scio continue to be involved and impacted by the maintenance and operation of the Liberty Road Sanitary Sewer Lift Station; and
Whereas, The City and the Township of Scio wish to formalize an arrangement for the continued operation, maintenance and improvement of the lift station.
RESOLVED, That Council approve the attached Memorandum of Understanding with City of Ann Arbor and the Township of Scio for the Liberty Road Sanitary Lift Station;
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said MOU after approval as to form by the City Attorney, and approval as to substance by the City Administrator; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
