Resolution to Approve a Lease at the Ann Arbor Airport with Solo Aviation, Inc. for Office and Ramp Space (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and consideration is a resolution to approve a lease agreement with Solo Aviation, Inc. for office and terminal ramp space for their aviation business operations. The term of the lease shall be for approximately three years with Solo Aviation having the option to renew the lease for one additional three year period.

In 2004, the City entered into a lease agreement with Solo Aviation for office space in the Ann Arbor Airport terminal building and a small area of the airport’s terminal ramp. The original lease and renewal options have now expired and Solo and the City wish to enter into a new multi-year lease agreement. Solo Aviation is an airport fixed based operator which offers a variety of services including flight instruction, discovery flights, fueling, aircraft maintenance and service. They currently employ 30 individuals at the Ann Arbor Airport. Their presence in the airport terminal building allows for extending the public accessibility of that facility beyond what City staffing levels can currently provide. In addition to the terminal and ramp space, Solo Aviation leases three t-hangars and two box hangars from the City for their operations.

The proposed lease rates are consistent with other office and land leases at the airport. Proposed lease rates are also subject to increases annually based on the Consumer Price Index.
