Title
Resolution to Approve City of Ann Arbor 2012 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Memorandum
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that communities adopt a Hazard Mitigation Plan as a condition of continued funding eligibility and that the adopted plan be updated periodically.

The value of a Hazard Mitigation Plan is in reducing future emergencies and events by identifying potential hazards to the Ann Arbor community, analyzing areas particularly vulnerable to hazards and developing mitigation goals and strategies that may be incorporated into the City’s Master Plan, and other plans, as applicable.

In 2004, with the review and support of the City’s Environmental Commission and Planning Commission, the City adopted a City Hazard Mitigation Plan. The 2012 revision to the plan includes updating of GIS Mapping, previous incident data and other hazard assessment information and strategies, where necessary.
