Memorandum
Attached is a resolution to approve acceptance of a grant from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (“AAACF”) in the amount of $7,200.00 to fund a portion of the public art mural project in Allmendinger Park and to appropriate the grant funds, when received, to the Art in Public Places fund to be used for materials and artist labor costs for the project. The contract with the artist who is doing the mural project in Allmendinger Park is for $12,000.00.
The funding for the grant is from the Richard P. Whitker Charitable Fund (“Fund”), which is administered by the AAACF. The Fund is intended to be used to promote the cultural enrichment and enhancement of the City of Ann Arbor and its residents. As the administrator of the Fund, the AAACF determined that the Allmendinger Park mural project is an appropriate use for the funds and selected it to receive this grant.

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor and its Public Art Commission continue to foster the development of culture and the arts in the city, and it is agreed that public art will improve the aesthetic quality of public spaces; and
Whereas, The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, as administrator of the Richard P. Whitker Charitable Fund (“Fund”), determined that use of funds from the Fund for the public art mural project in Allmendinger Park satisfied the Fund’s intended purpose to promote the cultural enrichment and enhancement of the City of Ann Arbor and its residents and selected the public art mural project in Allmendinger Park to receive a grant in the amount of $7,200.00 to help fund its creation;
