Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Two Police Patrol Vehicles from Gorno Ford (State of Michigan $49,420.00)

The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one 2013 Ford Police Interceptor- Sedan at $23,850.00 and one 2013 Ford Police Interceptor-Utility at $25,570.00 for a total of $49,420.00 from Gorno Ford, Woodhaven, Michigan.
The City’s labor contracts with the Ann Arbor Police Officers Association and the Ann Arbor Police Supervisors require that vehicles used by their members will not be driven more than 80,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.
The police patrol vehicles listed on this resolution will replace a police patrol vehicle that will have reached the 80,000 miles limit and a police patrol SUV that will reach its 6 year age limit in the next year.
The standard patrol vehicle used by the Police Department was the Ford Crown Victoria, which was retired last model year. The Police Department and Fleet Services are currently evaluating all the pursuit rated vehicles from the three major manufacturers.
The Police Department is currently evaluating a Dodge Charger patrol vehicle and a Chevrolet Caprice patrol car equipped with a 6.0 liter, V-8 engine.
We are submitting additional requests to purchase a Chevrolet Caprice which will be equipped with a 3.7 liter, V-6 engine, a Ford Police Interceptor-Sedan with a V-6 engine, a Ford Police Interceptor-Sedan with a V-6 “Eco Boost” engine, and a Ford Police Interceptor-Utility with a V-6 engine. With these purchases, we will have at least one of each configuration of the pursuit rated vehicles from each of the major manufacturers.
Once the evaluation process is completed, we will standardize our Police vehicle purchases to one manufacturer.
