Resolution Recognizing the Michigan Municipal League Foundation as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in the City of Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

The Michigan Municipal League Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that improves municipal governance through the dissemination of information and knowledge to municipal government officials and the residents of the State of Michigan.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Michigan Municipal League Foundation to hold Millionaire Parties at various locations within the State of Michigan over the next 10 years. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for these events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, The Michigan Municipal League Foundation has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and

Whereas, The Michigan Municipal League Foundation is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for its efforts as a public service organization engaged to improve municipal governance through the dissemination of information and knowledge to municipal governm...
