Memorandum
Section 9:79 of the Ann Arbor City Code provides City Council with the authority to appoint member(s) to a Hearing Board to conduct annual liquor license renewal and revocation hearings.
The Liquor License Review Committee recommends that Council member Derezinski, who serves on the Liquor License Review Committee, be appointed to serve as Hearing Officer for 2012. Council member Derezinski previously was appointed by Council to serve as Hearing Officer in 2011.

Whereas, The Annual Liquor License Renewal process, including any hearing on the question of non-renewal, must be completed before March 30, 2012;
Whereas, The Council Liquor License Review Committee may make recommendations for revocation of a liquor license at any time during a license year (May to April);
Whereas, Chapter 109, Section 9:79 of the Ann Arbor City Code provides City Council with the authority to appoint member(s) to a Hearing Board to conduct annual liquor license renewal and revocation hearings;
Whereas, In 2011 City Council previously appointed, on recommendation of the Council Liquor License Review Committee, Council member Derezinski to serve as Hearing Officer for any hearings on liquor license nonrenewal or revocation; and
Whereas, The Council Liquor License Review Committee recommends the re-appointment of Council member Derezinski as Hearing Officer for the City of Ann Arbor to serve from appointment through November 8, 2012;
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby appoints Council member Derezinski to be the Hearing Officer for all future liquor license non-renewal or revocation hearings conducted on recommendation of the Council Liquor License Review Committee by the Cit...
