Title
Resolution to Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for the Provision of Law Enforcement Services to the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority by the City of Ann Arbor ($75,000.00)
Memorandum
The agreement between the Ann Arbor Police Department and the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (hereafter “AATA”) to provide law enforcement services to the AATA expired on October 31, 2011.

The Agreement provides compensation for the Ann Arbor Police Department’s practice of dedicating police officers who provide police services at the Blake Transit Center. This arrangement has proven beneficial for both the City and the AATA for several years.

The AATA and Ann Arbor Police staff continued to work together on negotiation of a new agreement while law enforcement services were provided to AATA. The negotiated agreement covers the continuation of police services beginning November 1, 2011.

Amendment Number One of the agreement provides continued service for follow-on years by increasing the sum for services by $5,000 for each year beyond the November 1, 2011- October 31, 2012, $75,000.00 annual fee.

AATA will make quarterly installment payments of equal amounts (1/4 of annual total) payable on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each calendar year.

If the City believes a modification of the compensation is necessary to perform the agreed upon services during the term of the agreement, the City will provide written notice to AATA requesting negotiation to modify the compensation provision.

The agreement has been reviewed and accepted by the AATA. The City Attorney’s office has reviewed and approved the attached agreement. I request that Council approve the Agreement.
