Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the State Street Area Association to close State Street between William and Washington for Kids Day. This family friendly event has been held in the past and has become so successful that this request is being made to close the street to allow for overflow and to also provide game playing and activities within the street.
The State Street Area Association is notifying impacted business through the Association membership, flyers and face-to-face contact. Notification will also be provided by the City's website and GovDelivery.

Whereas, The State Street Area Association has requested closure of State Street between William and Washington for Kids Day on Saturday, June 20, 2014;
Whereas, The street closure will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised;
Whereas, The Sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets;
Whereas, The Sponsor has agreed to pay the cost of City services associated with the staging of this event; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and the Sponsor's notification to businesses through Association membership, flyers and face-to-face contact;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of State Street between William and Washington for the State Street Area Association Kids Day event on June 28, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
