Resolution to Accept Road Certifications from Washtenaw County
Memorandum
The attached resolution recommends accepting the certification of 1796 feet of road on Pontiac Trail near the centerline of M-14 and South of Dhu Varren and 686 feet west of centerline of US-23 on Plymouth Road.
In order to receive Act 51 funding, the City Street Administrator, Homayoon Pirooz, must maintain up-to-date, accurate Street System Maps. Act 51 gas tax funds that are collected by the state and then redistributed to respective municipalities based on a set formula for the sole use of maintenance and repair of major and local streets. To amend an Act 51 Street System Map, the state requires that administrators submit specific, detailed information and forms. One of the requisite amendment documents is a resolution adopted by the municipal governing body outlining and approving the requested changes/amendments.
We hereby request your approval to transfer agency jurisdiction from Washtenaw County Road Commission to the City of Ann Arbor.

Whereas, Act 51 of the Public Acts of 1951, as amended, provides for the transfer of certification of right-of-way between jurisdictions;
Whereas, Acceptance of these roads will increase annual state weight and gas payments to the City’s Major and Local Street Funds; and
Whereas, City certification of these roads will ensure that improvements within the right-of-ways meet City standards;
RESOLVED, That upon relinquishment by the Washtenaw County Board of Road Commissioners, that the City accepts certification of the roads listed in the attached Table A;
