Resolution to Appoint Fire Chief
Memorandum
The attached resolution provides for the appointment of Dominick J. Lanza as the Ann Arbor Fire Chief effective March 22, 2010.
A national search developed candidates for the position of Fire Chief and a selection process involving Fire Department personnel, Service Area Administrators, and other citizens was conducted.
Dominick Lanza served as Assistant Chief of Operations for the Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services in Broward County, Florida.
Prior to his appointment as Assistant Chief of Operations, Mr. Lanza progressed through the officer ranks in Broward County from 1975 - 2007 serving as firefighter, paramedic, Battalion Chief and Assistant Chief. He started his career in Lauderhill, Florida as a volunteer firefighter in 1972, becoming a paramedic in 1975.
Mr. Lanza holds a Bachelor of Science Degree Management from Nova Southeastern University and an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science from Broward Community College.
Dominick J. Lanza is qualified to serve and is recommended to Council for appointment as Ann Arbor Fire Chief
