Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run/Walk on March 15, 2009.

The event has been endorsed by Running Fit, Blue Care Network of Michigan, Gordon Foods, Conor O’Neills, Red Bull, and Dollar Bill Copying. The event will run from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and will require closing of the following streets from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on March 15, 2009:

• S. First Street from W. William Street to W. Huron Street
• S. Ashley Street from W. Jefferson Street to W. Washington Street
• S. Main Street from Madison Street to Huron Street
• S. Fourth Avenue from E. Liberty Street to E. Washington Street
• Washington Street from the railroad tracks to S. Fourth Avenue (except for traffic entering or exiting the Washington Street Parking Structure)
• Liberty Street from the railroad tracks to S. Fourth Avenue
• William Street from S. First Street to S. Fourth Avenue (except for traffic entering or exiting the William Street Parking Structure)
• Packard from S. Main to S. Fourth Avenue
• W. Jefferson from S. Ashley Street to S. Main Street

Refreshments will be served to race participants in front of Conor O’Neills.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

The sponsor will mail written notice to all affected businesses, religious institutions and area residents not less than 14 days prior to the event.

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
