Title
Resolution to Approve an Agreement with CenturyLink Communications, LLC to Purchase Wireless Networking Equipment, Software and Related Services to Replace Legacy Equipment and Upgrade the Water Treatment Plants Wireless Network ($99,001)
Memorandum
This memorandum and resolution request approval of a purchase order to Lumen Technologies Group, DBA Lumen Technologies Group, in the amount of $99,000.57 to purchase wireless networking equipment, software and related services to replace legacy equipment and upgrade the Water Treatment Plants wireless network that provides critical communications for the plant.
The purchase will replace an existing wireless network that has been in service for roughly 8 years. Information Technology normally replaces network hardware on a 5 to 7-year renewal schedule.
In addition to remediating legacy wireless network equipment, technology built into the new network hardware will provide faster speeds and additional state-of-the-art security to protect the wireless links from unwanted interference and be easier to manage and administer.
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Water Treatment Plant has included and budgeted for the cost of the purchase in FY 2021.
