Resolution to Extend the Contract with Rantoul Truck Center, LLC., for the Rental of Five Rear Load Refuse Trucks to Complete the Fall Leaf Collection Program ($7,500.00)
Memorandum
Attached is a resolution that authorizes an extension to the contract with Rantoul Truck Center, LLC., for the rental of five rear load refuse trucks to complete the fall leaf collection program. The city rented rear load refuse trucks in place of using dump trucks for leaf collection to improve efficiency. The refuse trucks have “packers” (compaction equipment) which allow staff to haul 65 more yards of leaves per load, thereby reducing the amount of time required for leaf removal.
The resolution extends the contract for one additional week to complete the leaf collection for the fall.

The fall 2007 leaf collection program was scheduled for the period of October 22nd through December 5th. With the unseasonable weather conditions many trees have not shed their leaves within the collection schedule. To accommodate the later leaf-fall, an additional week was added to the collection schedule to allow staff to return to sections 1, 2, and 3 on the north side of town. In order to expedite the extension, the City Administrator approved an emergency purchase order, until a resolution could be approved by City Council.

Funds were budgeted and are available in the FY08 operations & maintenance budget of the Field Operations Unit, Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.

Rantoul Truck Center, LLC received Human Rights approval on September 7, 2007.
