Resolution to Extend Deadline for Urban County Task Force Recommendation

Attached for your review and action is a resolution requesting a deadline extension for the Urban County Task Force recommendation on whether the City of Ann Arbor should join the Urban County. The Urban County is the decision making body for the allocation of HOME and CDBG funds for local jurisdictions who are members of the Urban County.
On July 2, 2007 City Council created the Urban County Task Force per Resolution R-303-7-07. The resolution directed the Task Force to examine the issues associated with the City joining the Urban County and bring forward a recommendation to City Council no later than the second meeting in December 2007. Given the work that is required, the Task Force is requesting that the recommendation deadline be extended until the first meeting in April 2008. This new deadline will allow the City to meet HUD and Urban County deadlines if Council authorizes the City to join the Urban County.

Whereas, On July 2, 2007 City Council created a taskforce charged with identifying and addressing the issues associated with the City joining the Urban County and the Task Force was directed to bring forward a recommendation to City Council no later than the second meeting in December 2007;
Whereas, The Task Force is requesting that the recommendation deadline be extended until the first meeting in April 2008; and
Whereas, This new deadline will still allow the City to meet HUD and Urban County deadlines if Council authorizes the City to join the Urban County;
