PROCLAMATION
Interfaith Council for Peace
40th CROP Hunger Walk
October12, 2014
WHEREAS, the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice has served the Ann Arbor community since 1965 by bringing people of different faiths and backgrounds together for positive social change; and
WHEREAS, the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice joins with the Church World Service and over thirty-five area congregations, schools, and community groups in sponsoring the Ann Arbor CROP Hunger Walk for 2014; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 CROP Hunger Walk will take place on October 12th, with registration beginning at 1:00, at the Rudolf Steiner School, 2230 Pontiac Trail in Ann Arbor; and
WHEREAS, the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice plans and implements the Ann Arbor CROP Hunger Walk to support local and world-wide food programs for the disadvantaged; and
WHEREAS, this year's walk will be the fortieth Ann Arbor Hunger Walk planned by the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice; and
WHEREAS, the Ann Arbor CROP Hunger Walk has raised over $1.7 million since its inception to help alleviate local and global hunger needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby declare Sunday, October 12, 2014 as CROP Walk Day in Ann Arbor and urge the citizens of Ann Arbor to participate with the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice to support this walk.
