Whereas, Section 1:800 of the Ann Arbor City Code established the Local Officers' Compensation Commission ("LOCC") to determine compensation for the elected officials of the City of Ann Arbor pursuant to the requirements of Public Act No. 8 of the Michigan Public Acts of 1972;
 
Whereas, The LOCC met in session on October 24, 2007, November 15, 2007 recessed to December 5, 2007, pursuant to state law and City Code;
 
Whereas, The LOCC issued salary determinations for the elected offices of Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and Council member for the years 2008 and 2009 as follows:

      Mayor Pro Tem      $15,900            $16,377
      Council member      $15,450            $15,913.50
 
Whereas, The Determination, filed with the City Clerk on December 7, 2007, recognized the on-going economic conditions facing the City and the State, and the Commission limited its salary increase for the offices to an approximate cost of living increases;
 
Whereas, The salary determinations of the LOCC will automatically take effect thirty days from the filing of the Determination with the City Clerk unless City Council rejects, by a two-thirds vote of its members, either all of the salary determinations or the specific determination for a specific office; and
 
Whereas, City Council acknowledges the findings of the Commission but holds the current salary level for each of the elected offices provides adequate compensation for performance of the duties of that respective office;
 
RESOLVED, That City Council reject the 2007 LOCC Determination for the Office of Council member; and
 
RESOLVED, That City Council acknowledge the service of the members of the LOCC to the City of Ann Arbor.
