Resolution to Authorize a Purchase Order to Michigan Waterworks, Inc., to Purchase Services and Materials for Emergency Repairs to Water Mains ($50,000.00)

Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to authorize a purchase order to Michigan Waterworks, Inc. for the purchase of water main line stop materials and service at various locations.
There have been failures of several water mains bringing to our attention valves that are no longer operational. The purchase of the materials and services will allow staff to perform emergency repairs and schedule water main shutdowns to replace old valves. Michigan Waterworks will provide the line stop materials and perform the line stops.This effort of preventative maintenance will assure minimum future interruptions to water services and lower the number of emergency repairs and associated costs.
Michigan Waterworks, Inc., has been the only company to respond to bids over the past three years and are therefore recognized as a sole source provider.
Funds are available in the approved FY08 Field Operations, Water Supply System operating budget.
Michigan Waterworks Inc., received Living Wage and Contract Compliance approval on November 8, 2007.
