Resolution to Amend the Fleet and Facility Unit FY 2013 Budget by Appropriating Funds from the Fleet Services Fund Balance and to Approve the Purchase of One Light Rescue Fire Apparatus from Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. (RFP # 827 $264,597.00) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2013 Freightliner M2 chassis with Ferrara Light Duty Walk Around Rescue body for use by the Safety Services Area, Fire Department Unit for a total of $264,597.00.
Funds are available for this purchase in the fund balance of the Fleet Services Fund.
This purchase follows a major recommendation of the ICMA study by including a light rescue vehicle in the Fire Department’s fleet. This unit will be staffed with two firefighters and will replace the heavy rescue unit currently staffed with three firefighters.

Staff from the Fire Department, Fleet & Facility Unit, and the Financial Services Area reviewed the proposals and Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., Holden, LA was scored as best fitting the needs of the City. The proposal from Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. met all of the Fire Department’s requirements and was the lowest priced proposal.
This unit will replace a 2001 Pierce heavy rescue unit which is scheduled...
