Resolution to Approve Street Closings for the 6th Annual Box Car Race/Soap Box Derby - Saturday, March 28, 2015

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the 6th Annual Box Car Race/Soap Box Derby on March 28, 2015.
The event is sponsored by Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and Ann Arbor Active Against ALS to honor the legacy of their fraternity brother, Lou Gehrig, and to raise money for ALS research. All proceeds from the event will be donated to ALS research.
The event will require closing of the following streets from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on March 28, 2015:
? S. University from Oxford to Walnut
? Linden from S. University to Geddes
A picnic for participants will take place immediately following the Race on the lawn of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house on the corner of S. University and Washtenaw.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, the Neighborhood Association and flyers on the cars and in the mailboxes of impacted residents.
The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
