Resolution to Approve a Contract with The Spieker Company to Perform Renovation Work at the Leslie Science and Nature Center ($153,000.00)

Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve a $153,000.00 contract with The Spieker Company to renovate structures and perform site work at the Leslie Science and Nature Center (LSNC).
Budget/Fiscal Impact: Funding is available in the approved FY2017 Park Maintenance and Capital Improvement Millage budget.
In 2015, the City had an assessment completed of buildings on the LSNC campus to evaluate the condition of the structures and site for ADA compliance, safety issues, and deterioration of structures. The assessment, as well as City staff and LSNC staff input was used to prioritize improvements to the site. The work will improve barrier free access by replacing concrete, correcting trip hazards, and replacing handrails, the roof of the Caretaker's House will be replaced to protect the structural integrity of the building, windows on the first floor of the Leslie House will be replaced to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of patrons, and the kitchen plumbing will be updated.
Repairs to the structures at the LSNC were identified as a need in the PROS Plan, as well as meeting general goals to improve Barrier Free Access and maintain existing infrastructure.
