PROCLAMATION
Huron River Day
July 17, 2011
WHEREAS, The Huron River is a major environmental asset of the Ann Arbor community; and
WHEREAS, All residents of the Ann Arbor area should know how important the river is to our community and how it is the responsibility of each of us, individually and jointly, to actively participate in its care and protection; and
WHEREAS, This is Ann Arbor's 31sth celebration of Huron River Day; and
the first to be joined by parks throughout the length of the river; and
WHEREAS, This is a day for residents of the Ann Arbor Community to enjoy being on the river and its shores with games, exhibits, walks, canoes and paddle boats and to learn more about its care.
NOW THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby, proclaim July 17, 2011 as Huron River Day and invite residents of our community to spend the day at Gallup Park and Parker Mill in celebration of the river.
