Resolution to Accept City Administrator Search Committee Recommendations

Whereas, the Mayor appointed a City Administrator Search Committee on March 21, 2011 and charged the committee with recommending a selection process for the new city administrator and to recommend an Interim City Administrator for approval at the April 19th meeting;
Whereas, The City Administrator Search Committee acknowledged the need to proceed in a transparent and thoughtful manner;
Whereas, The City Administrator Search Committee met with Human Resources and determined a process to accept internal applications for the interim city administrator and the internal process was completed on April 8th;
Whereas, The committee requested the distribution of the City Administrator job description to all of city council for their review and input prior to April 8th;
Whereas, The committee met with Human Resources to discuss various options for the selection process for a new City Administrator including an internal process, external process and a combined external and internal process;
Whereas, The committee reviewed and discussed steps and a target timeline for hiring a new city administrator that will include posting the job on April 20, 2011, stakeholder meetings the first week in May that consist of individual council members, employees, businesses and the community at large, onsite public interviews in June and a job offer by July 1st with a start date of August 1st;
Whereas, The committee requested and reviewed a salary matrix from other cities for the City Administrator position; and therefore
Resolved, That the City Administration Search Committee recommends a selection process that is a combination internal and external process and directs the Interim City Administrator to execute a contract with Affion Public that will follow the process and timeline outlined above .
